Ask, Observe, Record

I can observe an object carefully and record what I notice.

Let’s get started

Scientists pay attention, ask questions, and write down what they discover.

Learn together

  1. Choose a safe natural object such as a leaf.
  2. Use sight and touch to notice color, shape, and texture. Do not taste it.
  3. Record two observations and one question.

Example to explore

Leaf: green, pointed, smooth. Question: Where did it grow?

Try it yourself

  1. Which is an observation?
  2. Which tool helps record a result?
  3. Describe something you observed about a leaf or a safe object.

Hands-on project

Create a scientist’s observation card with a sketch, two facts you noticed, and one question.

Reflect and grow
