Record Data We Can Trust

I can record observations in an organized table and explain one pattern.

Let’s get started

Good science records help us remember what really happened.

Learn together

  1. Choose three safe objects and one property to observe, such as color or length.
  2. Make a table with headings: Object and Observation. Check each entry.
  3. Look across your entries and describe one similarity or difference without guessing facts.

Example to explore

Object | Observation: spoon | shiny ; leaf | green

Try it yourself

  1. What makes a data table useful?
  2. Which is an observation?
  3. List two observations you could record about a safe object.

Hands-on project

Create a tiny home-science report with a labeled table, one drawing, and one sentence about the pattern you noticed.

Reflect and grow

How did labels help someone else understand your data?
