Find syllables in objects

I can clap ta-ble and pen-cil when the objects are named.

Let’s get started

Today we will explore find syllables in objects through play. Grown-ups can model it first; children can respond by pointing, moving, speaking, or drawing. There is no speed test.

Learn together

  1. Watch together: Clap ta-ble and pen-cil when the objects are named.
  2. Try it as a team: Try making the sound out loud. Pause, repeat and let the child lead.
  3. Try once more in a new way: Repeat the sound in a playful game. Celebrate the attempt, not perfect results.

  2. Try it again: Clap ta-ble and pen-cil when the objects are named. Tell your grown-up which part was fun or surprising.
  3. Draw, point, move, or talk to show what you learned about find syllables in objects. Adults can record an observation instead of requiring writing.
